Red, itchy eyes? Nose fluctuating between stuffed up and running like crazy? Experiencing a sneezier jumpstart to fall than usual? Well, as Louisvillians, I guarantee that you are not alone. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) has named the worst cities and towns across the country for people with fall allergies, based on three criteria, and Louisville came out on top- guess you could say, we took the Triple Crown (sorry, couldn?t resist).
The ranking was calculated by comparing the pollen count, the amount of allergy medication taken by inhabitants of the various cities, and the number of board-certified allergists in the area. This year, Louisville jumped five places from their 6th place ranking last year thanks to our worse than average pollen count and medicine use.
In case you are looking to travel for fall break to escape these pesky allergies, you may want to check out the full article on Huffington Post -which gives a list of the 20 worst ?allergy capitals? in the U.S.- ?before you pack your bags.
