McCormick takes Union Bank post

Union Bank N.A. announced that Mike McCormick has joined the bank's consumer lending group as area sales manager, based in Los Angeles.

In a newly created position, he is responsible for the growth of residential lending in the Los Angeles area, including Santa Barbara, Thousand Oaks and the San Gabriel, Simi, Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys.

McCormick will also manage a team of mortgage consultants who serve clients in the region. He reports to Division Sales Manager Jennifer Livingston.

Homeless program to get $132,000

The Department of Housing and Community Development announced awards Thursday totaling $6.6 million to support homeless assistance programs throughout California. The Whittier Area First Day Coalition, which has 45 spaces, is among the recipients and will receive $132,000.

"These awards will enable communities to provide shelters and vital homeless assistance services to adults, children, and families in California," Cathy E. Creswell, the department's acting director.

Foreclosure rates show decline

Foreclosure rates in the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Glendale area decreased for the month of October over the same period last year, according to newly released data from

CoreLogic.

The CoreLogic data reveal that the rate of foreclosures among outstanding mortgage loans was 2.73 percent for October 2011, a decrease of 0.29 percentage points compared with October 2010 when the rate was 3.02 percent.

Foreclosure activity in Los Angeles-Long Beach-Glendale is lower than the national foreclosure rate, which was 3.51 percent for October 2011.

Cal Spas' owner to launch new lines

LMS Inc., the corporate parent of Cal Spas, OC Hot Tubs, Cal Flame, Cal Heat, Cal Designs, Coleman Spas, American Spas and Geo Spas, has announced the upcoming launch of the new Genesis Rotomold Spa Series and Hercules Synthetic Cabinet option in 2012.

LMS is launching the Genesis Rotomold spa series early this year. The hot tub lineup will offer low maintenance for consumers and consist of a six-foot spa, round spa and two seven-foot spas.
